Red Sea ABC+ ???

Anyone out there used Red Sea ABC+? Any Comments Pros,Cons, and can I pre mix it for use in my programmable dosing pump? I've been running a fish only setup and dosing vodka but no supplements other than water changes. Ready for some polyps and corals to bring some color to the tank. Any input would be awesome.

Thanks, Koolaid

I use it in my 120 gallon tank and it does make a difference in the colors of my corals. You cannot pre-mix it; doing so will cause precipitation of several of the additives, they sell it in separate containers for exactly that reason.

It's a mix of three products. Great if your tank is consuming the elements at the same rate as the mix. If not, you'll need to get the separate additives and dose accordingly.

If you don't have the corals yet I wouldn't mess with them. If the tank isn't consuming the elements you can overdose them. I would also make sure you have the test kits to watch that as well. I have this kit and it spells all that out in the instructions. Almost all of them are toxic in excess. I have an established mixed reef with a heavy coral load and I only dose 1.5ml a week of each. I haven't really noticed any change in color either. I'm not going to buy it again. Doesn't seem worth while. Also be careful with your vodka when you get the corals. When I dosed vodka it dropped my nitrates and phosphates to 0 and my corals hated it. They need some nutrients to live. I know you can use vodka still but don't overdo it. I like my refugium better than vodka or gfo or carbon.

Awesome Thanks everyone for responding I have reef test kit that I use on occasion; and I plan to ease back on the vodka once corals are introduced. I understand that a pre mix is impossible and that's ok I may still give ABC+ a shot once I get started, and after I test to see what's needed.

I'm using RODI water with a .028 salt mixture average on water changes. I'm using a 3 stage sump skimmer/refugium w/algae scrubber/Return. Plan on adding some polyps and zoas soon here goes nothing ;-)
