I bought enough Red Sea Coral Pro Salt to make 110 gallons , I got an awesome deal on it. Here is the bad news , I recently have heard of people having cyano break outs after switching to this, what do you guys think?

I cant really answer about switching to it but ive ran it over a year and I dont plan on switching anytime soon

I have red sea coral pro and I like it a lot. Some people have reported some bad batches but that could be very subjective. I've never had a cyano outbreak due to the salt alone but then again, I've never tried anything else other then reef crystals.

Switching salts, regardless of brand, can cause cyano outbreaks. You're changing the chemistry in the aquarium. You need to make the switch slowly.

I used it several years back with great results but for the last two years I have used Reef Crystals. I have just switched back over to Coral Pro and although it does not seem to mix very well, my corals love it.

How do you mix it? I've never seemed to have a problem mixing it. I just use a small powerhead in a trash can and it does the job.

I use a small power head in a 6 gallon bucket overnight. It seems to stay slightly cloudy in the bucket. Looking at my tank after the water change this morning, the tank is very clear right now.

i was using kent marine salt for ~10 months, switched to coral pro and i have cyano now. im going back to kent after this batch is gone.

Thats good, I bought two buckets . Makes 110 gallons combined, they cost me less than 60 shipped. I'm thinking I got a good deal.

My cyano problems disappeared when I started using it, LOL! Seriously though, once I started using it, my tank started to improve A LOT and all my issues with algae and cyano went away. It may have been coincidence, but it is working for me on my nano and I plan to continue with my upgrade tank. I was using RC before. FWIW, There can be a "bad batch" with any salt.

I really like their tanks I want an s-line , to much money. From what i've read Red Sea is ok. Who else are trustworthy merchants.

Mine actually is the crystal clear after no more than an hour of mixing. A previous bucket I had was cloudy like you guys have said but it was still fine, and this last bucket has been great. Might try reef crystals just to see, but I definitely like red sea coral pro

I have bought two buckets and it clears up but I do have debris left in the bottom and the kh is 8.6 every time I mix it 30 gallon at a time with a mag 8 in a trash can. Like it all don't mix up a fine sand. Cal is 460 and mag 1320. And the is with coral Pro.

Sometimes adding the salt to fast can make it cloud up.mi don't think this is just a coral pro thing though.

Used it for a year last year for my nano and had good growth rates on all of my corals. There was a lot of bad reviews on it having stuff that doesn't mix right. But I think thats due to user error. Since the salt comes in buckets and not bags you have to roll the bucket around on its side for a few minutes to remix all the particles back up so its a more even mixture. Once I did that never had issues mixing again.
