After helping with our 120g and recently loosing her betta fish that she had in her room, our daughter has been bugging us for a reef tank of her own.
When she got home from school the other day, we ran over to the LFS to pick up her new tank ... a Red Sea Max Nano (20g)
The tank was setup with a bag of Arag-Alive sand and 15# of fully cured live rock. Salt is Red Sea blue bucket mixed to 1.026
We also added a bottle of Dr. Tims One and Only to give the bacteria boost.
The tank is running a Neo Therm 75w heater with additional monitoring from an InkBird controller
Unfortunately, the Prime HD was dead out of the box ... Flashing red as soon as it was plugged in. Went back to the shop after we finished the initial tank setup, and they made a quick call and swapped it out w another Prime HD they had in stock. Just a quick swap of ball joint was all it took. Cant thank the store for helping us out so quickly!
The light is now running a 12hr photoperiod with a 1hr ramp up/down and the BRS AB+ settings
I removed the larger sponge filter and will probably glue the skimmer impeller as a precaution. It's not terribly loud now but I'm sure I can improve on it.
The following day we made a trip to a local reefing event where we picked up several frags (that will live in the 120 until the RSM is ready) to get her going and stumbled upon a fantastic deal for an MP10wQD -- so now thats done too.
We also decided the stock ATO wasnt going to cut it, so an IceCap ATO was integrated into the setup as well.
At this time I think its pretty much done in terms of equipment; however, im debating a new return pump ... With the DC1200 or the Innovative Marine DC pump.
Now we wait to ensure the parameters are good and its time to add some fish (2 clowns) and her frags
