red sea reef ONLY

the natural distribution of the fish you are talking about is not only the red sea but they are present there also and you are right for the butterflyfish they would do to well in the reef eating all the coral... so they are out of the list.

the sohal is IMO alot more aggressive than the emperor angel since I am gonna get a juvenile emperor which are calmer than any sohal tang plus he grows alot faster than the emperor and will soon be cramped even in my tank , but I know he is beautiful but I don't want a stressed out tank only because of one fish.

as for the stocking time don't worry I will go very slowly begining with the least agressive fish like the cardinals the sankeyi etc...
and continue on with the convict tang and the angels at the end as well as re-doing the rockwork.

and I don't think triggers would be a good addition in the reef tank I'll be having unless they are reef-safe.

While there are some reef-safe triggers, the titan was a joke. :)

They're red sea species that grow to 30" and are incredibly aggressive. I don't think anyone has ever tried to keep one in captivity.

wow he'd goble up my poor little fish in a second , he's a monster but a cool looking one.
are there any triggers from the red sea that are reef-safe???

and for the list is it ok or too much???

thanks

Those pics are from my old 600g. I started out going with Red Sea fish and few others that were hold overs from another tank like the Watanabei, clowns, anthias, and Hippo Tang. I ended up stocking (4) Purple Tangs, (1) Asfur Angel, (2) Regal Angels, (1) Sohal, and Trio of Eightline Flashers.
The Sohal was down right mean just like there reputation dictates. He would try and kill the Blue Hippo Tang any chance he got but could never catch him. The Purple Tangs only survived because they schooled together which made the sohal leave them alone. I was unable to introduce any other fish to the tank after the Sohal so he eventually was removed. I admit they are one of the most beautiful fish but they become so agressive that it makes it difficult to keep them long term and still enjoy the tank as a whole.
Are you planning on collecting your own Red Sea fish? I ask because fish from that region are very limited right now because of the war. You can get Sohals, Purple Tangs, and Golden Butterflies in decent numbers but I havent seen much of anything else come out of there lately. I actually havent seen an Asfur Angel available in over a year. I want some more eightlines for the new tank but I have only seen 2 in the last six months and they were both males.

I'd collect them if it was possible but I can't so I'll special order them from somewhere or directly get them shipped from a collector.

You confirm what I was thinking about sohal tangs and thanks to you I won't get any just for the good health of the other fishes it would be living with, so no sohal.

do you think I could put all the fish in the list in my 265g tank and they would get along just fine ? I don't want any territorial issues whatsoever.

Wow, Triggerfish1976...

That's a nice set-up. How many purple tangs do you have? Did you introduce them all together as babies? How big is that tank?

I've always wanted a school of them, but my tank is too small. I got one when it was the size of a quarter... Now it's as big as a cup-coaster...

Kevin- a small/juvenile Emperor makes more sense. Good luck on the whole Red Sea tank. Red Sea fish tend to be more hardy, so I think your idea will work...
