To my knowledge nothing. They are different than regular sailfins though. Red Sea( zebrasoma desjardni) have a pattern to them as well as stripes. That's about all I know about the differences, but I'm sure someone else here can give you a more in depth answer.

I'm really not very familiar with these tangs. But, I doubt you could buy any Red Sea tang for $60. All Red Sea Fish are quite pricey, and may not be available at all if things in the Middle East get any worse.

I looked at your pics and you definitely have a Desjardini and they are from the Red Sea. $60 is about right as far as price. It's a great fish. Very long lived. They get REAL BIG. I had one for 7 years in a 75. I know, I know, it was a bad idea. He maxxed out at around 6 inches until I lost him to an ich outbreak from adding another fish. DUMB!

I had him in with other Red Sea Fish- Asfur Angel. The Desj developed HLLE. I think the size of the tank contributed to it unfortunately. Looking back, I would have had to have him in a MINIMUM of a 6 foot tank to see him through his entire life and growth. I believe they should see atleast 15 years. They are VERY smart and good eaters. Got along fine and not overly aggressive. I like the color pattern of the Desj over the Atlantic. They look like they have a striped clown suit on and develop these really cool large dots on their underbelly that are very attractive. Expect him to grow to 12".

wow Curious George im feeling educated thanks for the clear explanation and did not expect it to be that large wow
