i have some red slime algae growing on a mushroom rock of mine...how do i get it off without hurting the mushrooms? i bought some of that red slime remover, and plan on using that..just didn't know if i should take the rock out and scrub it too...

any advice would be awesome!

I just siphon it off using the hose that I have for water changes. It won't hurt your mushrooms. You can also blow it off with a turkey baster but do it while you're doing a water change so you can get as much out as possible.

The redslime remover works really well. We used it for our nano and it got the stuff out immediately however, it did **** some of the corals off but they are fine now.

I too would recommend trying to siphon it off if the mushrooms are pretty established. I had some in my tank at one time and it seemed to suck up easily with a water change. I have not tried the red slime remover myself..

what do you mean by red slime algea? is it cyanobacteria or dyanoflageletts ? the red slime remover is a quick fix but not a cure it will come back, increase water flow check your water for nitrates and phosphates , make sure your water changes and top off are done with r/o water, adding macro algea will compete with the cyano for food "nitrates and phosphates'' , running phosban or simular phosphate sponge helps allot , suck up as much as you can with your water changes, shortening your light cycle , and keeping them off for a few days will help. old bulbs will cause cyano to bloom too.
