red spot cardinal fish

do red spot cardinal fish stay in the open or do they swim around live rock like clownfish do

I have a school of 5 in a 120 with a good amount of open space. They tend to stay in the open but within six inches or so of the reef structure. Being such small fish, I imagine they feel secure to always be within an easy dash of the rock.
