Red starfish question

What do they eat?

There are lots of red starfish. We need to know which one you're talking about. Even then, chances are that its diet isn't known.

The LFS also did not know much about them. I don't know what kind it is but its not a brittle. Its small about the size of a quarter. Other then that I don't know. Maybe its best not to buy.

My guess from the sounds of it, it's probably a red bali starfish. Like greenbean said, diets are unknown as a general rule when it comes to starfish. We had pretty good success with one of these. It lived for a little over a year in our tank when we first got into the hobby. We didn't do anything at all special for it...
