I just purchased a beautifull red tree coral. I was told not to give it direct light of my metal hilides. Should I put it on the floor, or should I put it where it will not get direct light?

Also what should I feed it, as I am told they do not feed algea from the water?

Thanks for any input.

I have a orange tree coral, and i do have it in direct MH light w/4 T5's about halfway up my tank. it took about 3-4 weeks to start to open but now it opens every day. The big misconception is that they cant be under bright light....not true, they dont need to be under that light because they dont feed off that light. I feed mine 2 squirts of phytoplancton(comes in a little container with a pump)and it does awsome......good luck
