please reply to above question... lost a really nice deep orange w/ green fringe due to temp fluctuations when it got too hot outside (~85-90 degrees F)...

kicked the central air and now the tank stays around 78-80 degrees F...

any inputs would be appreciated..

Thanks
Marvin

Hey Marv, I noticed my tank was at 86 the other day, and my Rics seem to be ok, One mushroom did detach though. What temp did you reach?

wow.. I guess the morph that I had was more sensitive... all other Yumas were fine also beside the deep orange/green fringe... I believe the tank went up to 84 or 85...

I don't have any concrete documentation on this but, I do believe the pinks, oranges and combination yumas come from slightly deeper water the the typical Florida or green purple yumas. If this was true the water temps would be to the lower end of tropical. Much like where you are at now or slightly lower...76-80 degrees. This could be why you lost it because the temp go to high for the mushroom and it's tissue to do it's natural process's. Just my .02 from trying invain to keep these damn mushrooms. I still have yet in 22 years been able to keep a yuma for more then 6 months. I can keep everything else except these...

wow.. thanks for the input...

I came to work this am and the temp was around 76... slowly climbing up to 77.. I know by the end of my photoperiod, the tank will be at 80... I'm going to try to keep my temp around here and see how long I can keep this guy.. he's awesome looking.. probably the best looking bright red/pink Yuma I've seen...
