Redslime/bubbles Issue - Help Please

For the past few months I can't seem to get rid of some redslime that keeps reappearing in my system.

The Red Slime is also covered with a ton of bubbles which seems to be promoting its growth. Any idea how to get rid of the bubbles, its almost like the bubbles are goring in the redslime?

The only thing I can think of is its co2 from my co2 reactor that runs at full power. I have a lot of flow for gas exchange so I don't think that is the issue?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

-water parameters are all in check
-also changed out 2 year old sand bed, thinking it was the problem
-added more flow
-bulbs all newer
-increased kalk reactor to maybe help precipitate c02 more
-I suck the redslime and bubbles out daily

I believe these bubbles are the oxygen (day) and carbon dioxide (night) produced by the red slime itself.

Have you considered a chemical "red slime remover" along with a reduction in feeding and increased filtration? The removal of a two-year old sand bed may have resulted in a large release of nutrients and detritus into the water.

Did you intend to place this post in the Advanced Topics section?

Hello,

I was going to do red slime remover as a last result. I really wanted to try and correct the problem.

I did reduce feeding quite a bit and have a lot of filtration.

The red slime actually started before I removed sand bed and I did a real careful job sucking out all the sand, very little release of nutrients.

I did intend to post in advanced topic. I guess I should of posted somewhere else?

Kindest Regards,
Brent

This is the exact thing I just posted in another cyano thread..

I would suggest Chemi Clean or any other red slime remover to be a Last Resort.

Chemicals are only a quick fix and doesnt eliminate the actual problem, IE Poor
water quality, high nitrates, phosphates or silicates..There are many other methods
to try first.

I would suggest running either a bag of Phos Guard or Chemi Pure Carbon.
The new Chemi Pure has ferric oxide and will remove Silicates and Phosphates.

Also keep siphoning, it will at some point cause chemical self destruction.

Also check your flow, Cyano likes to spread in areas of low flow, quite possible
you have some dead spots and thats where it is thriving. Point one of your
powerheads toward the area most affected by the cyano.

Limit your feeding, don't over feed..

Although Cyano is more of a bacteria then it is an Algae, I would still limit
your day lighting schedule for a short time.

Test your water...Cyano loves Nitrate, phosphates and silicate...
