I am new to the area. I am looking to for a lfs that sells the 5 gallon buckets of reef crystals. Anyone know of a store?

Thanks

Jen

Thanks, I called Ocean Blue and they were out. I called several stores and no one seems to carry it. That is just odd. I just moved from South Florida and almost every lfs carried reef crystals. One stire tried to tell me that IO was a far better product.

well if you ever want to just order it. go to liveaquaria. I think they charge like 10 bucks or something for shipping and it cost 34.99. So you save about 10 dollars from buying at stores in the area. This is how I buy it. But it doesnt help if your in need right now. Just thought I would let you know down the road.

jenlovesty Eric B. and Kim L. research at MACNA will agree with you that RC is a one of the best choices. This would be on the appearence over time. Once all the data is collected I'm sure it will show you can make most salts work by adding what is missing.
I would encourage everyone to test thier newly made up salt water for calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium to see what may or may not need to be adjusted.

I agree completely that all salt mix can vary between lots or batches. I guess that's why we have test kits. Eric Brogman is/has done a recent scientific test of different brands of salts and the results should be coming soon. But we all know that the demands of our tanks vary and it is up to us to supplement as necessary. And initial additives such as calcium and magnesium are used up quickly if your tank has a decent demand. Sometimes I wonder if I could just use Mortons' salt and supplement the rest:rolleyes: I might start a nano experiment, but i would hate puting my animals in a such a risky test.
