Gresham,

Wanted to do a thread just in case others might be curious.

I have 2 clams and plan on adding more in the new year:)

I feed my tank Phytofeast and Rotifeast.

Which of your products would you suggest for clams?

I think i read on the Clams direct forum someone recommended the Phytofeast live over any other one for clams.

But, I would rather hear your opinion ands thoughts!

Cheers,

Davey

Before I recommend which product I would like to say giant clams do not require phyto at any size *if* they get enough light. Feeding however will spur better growth and a healthier animal over all. Light alone is like living on grain.

I'd feed just Phyto-Feast (non live). We only have the Live version on the market as there is a misconception live is better. The fact is, if something is alive and sits in a fridge for a period of time, the nutrional value will decrease. While I say it's "non-live" I mean non viable. Seveal oceanic studies have shown that 60-69% of all oceanic phyto is non viable.

Gresham, this has been something I have always felt I had a lack of info on. Can you expand on the study or provide me with a location where I can better educate myself. I know we are not coming close to providing proper nutrition for our animals. This is why I wanted to get you to speak at a meeting.

Any credible info on nutrition you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
