Reef Octopus Recirculating Skimmer, glue pipes?

I just picked up a Reef Octopus 8" recirculating protein skimmer for my new 70G cube tank with 110g sump. This is an external skimmer. It's a bit large but That Pet Place had a crazy price on it. They said I did not have to glue the return pipes but I'm a bit concerned they would leak. So my question to the experts, to glue or not to glue? Biggest issue with glueing is that if I want to move it later on I'll have to order new plumbing as the pipes are metric.

I would definitely say yes to gluing pipes on an external skimmer. Just use plenty of unions.

No idea where to get metric unions though. I'll check if Reef Octopus sells them separately.
