Anyone have any opinions on this skimmer. Reef Octopus NWB-150 I am debating on whether to purchase I new one or not because my is old and not working very well, but I can't seem to find too much about this. Any thoughts would be very helpful. Thanks.

I just bought the same model about a month ago and it's great. I have it sitting in a 20gal high tank ( sump ).That's the smallest sump because of the foot print.

I have been using the Reef Octopus DNWB-150 (the older model) for a year now and love it. This is the recirc model though and you would need to feed it from the drain or a feed pump.

gravity fed skimmer

why is it not reccomended to gravity feed these skimmers? on other threadsive read about these skimmers people will say not to gravity feed the octopuses anyone have anyinput?

I'm interested as to what people think about these skimmers as well i'm looking into probably getting the NWB-110 for my 37 Gallon with a 10 Gallon sump.

I would probably get the 150 but the footprint is to big for the sump that I am able to fit in my stand.

I gravity feed mine from the drain. Works fine. Maybe they are worried about the flow rate varying since most people have to split the drain because the skimmer cannot take all the flow. That is what I am doing though and it seems to be working fine a year later. I have never tried it with a dedicate feed pump though, so maybe it works even better that way.
