reef safe eels

Golden Dwarf Moray, they're pretty pricey, but they probably wouldn't munch on any of your critters if you kept it well fed.

the pebble toothed eels are pretty much fish safe, but they can be clumsy and knock over corals, and will eat any shrimp and many other inverts. depends on what you mean by reef safe.

pebble tooth eels include snowflake morays, zebra morays, chainlink eels

+1

It depends on the individual (as with any fish, or invert, or eel, or living thing), but most are content with regular feedings. They'll only eat the smallest of fish (babies, dartfish, small gobies, etc.) as they're small themselves; I think they only attain about an inch around fully-grown. I'd worry about hermits and ornamental shrimp, though.

look in to the white ghost eels. They can eat small fish and stuff but if you keep them feed you shouldnt have a problem. and best of all they are usually around 30-40$

+2 on the Golden Dwarf Moray!

I LOVE mine! Best money ive spent on the tank, imo. He looks great, doesnt get very large and is reef safe by all accounts. Mine hasnt caused any problems for the couple months i've had him.

sufunk, please tell us more about your golden dwarf moray (hopefully this isn't much of a threadjack). What do you feed it? Do you keep it with snails/crabs/shrimp/urchins/stars? If so, have any gone missing? How do you keep him in your tank - lid, canopy, other? Thanks!

I don't have one myself, but from what I've read (would love to have one, not willing to risk my six shrimp), they're fairly reclusive like most eels and spend a lot of time hanging out of their den.

I feed mine either PE mysis, small pieces of shrimp or pieces of octopus. Started out a little hard to feed but he basically attacks the feeding prong instantly now.

I have only stars, snails and hermits, no urchins or shrimp and nothing has gone missing so far. The tank has a canopy and the back and overflows i strung up some "gutter guard" to keep the eel in. So far so good.

Heres a link to my thread but i havent updated in awhile.
