I am planning my first reef tank. It will be 70 or 90 gal. and the focus will be SPS, LPS and Clams. I would appreciate any suggestions you may have for fish which would be suitable for inclusion.
Thanks.
Ed
clownfish, kole tang, yellow tang, blue tang in the 90, chromis, cardinalfish, gobies try to stay away from damsels, your per store might try to sell you some but they can be mean to other fish
Dwarf angels may nip at corals. Most tangs will grow too big for your tank. A yellow or Kole would be about the only ones that would do well long term. Keep in mind that these fish can become territorial and aggressive.
You should try and decide what type of stock you want to keep. There are a variety of fish that will do well in your tank, but not all are compatible. Do you want to get a few large fish, a lot of small fish, aggressive, non-aggressive, an eel?
Some fish you may want to look at that are good reef-safe beginner fish are: Royal Gramma, blue-green chromis, clownfish, firefish, fairy wrasses, orchid dotty-back, clown gobies and midas blennie. Damsels are hardy and colorful, but very aggressive and can be more trouble than they're worth.
