Reef safe goby

I am looking for a a goby that will stay closer to the sand bed and will stay relatively small. The I have had a HUDGE algea bloom on my sand and none of my snails will go down there :angryfire: so I read and I talked to my LFS and they said that a good option would be a orange spotted sleeper goby. I was watching it at the store yesterday and it stayed very close to the sand and their sand was spotless! I just want to know if it would be ok if I put some mushrooms on the sand along with a crocea clam down the road.

I would find the root cause of the algae problem first.

Also, is this for your 24? I personally wouldn't put one in a tank that small, they will stripe the sandbed of any food in short order. I had one many many years ago in a 75, and even though it was eating prepared foods, it still starved to death.

The orange spotted sleeper goby is reef safe, but I also think your tank is too small to support one in the long term. I'd add a few nassarius snails to sift/aerate the sand bed and clean up some detritus, while also addressing possible nutrient & water quality issues.
