reef safe trigger

Bluethroat, Sargassum, and Crosshatch would be the best choices, Nigers are typically considered reefsafe as well, but a little more risky.

In a really large tank, some other species can be "reef safe", provided they have other food sources. I know people who have successfully kept bursas, humus, and clowns in large reefs, and bursas in small reefs. I kept a bursa with corals and it was fine. I had a lot of luck with a sargassum in a reef - he got ich though, and I ended up moving so I did not replace him. He was very happy in there, and he never touched anything he wasn't supposed to. There are a few species which pretty much are guaranteed not to work in reefs - undulates which actually are known to eat coral in the wild.

In some cases, the types of corals might matter too. Polyps, mushrooms, and certain leather corals are pretty unattractive meals, so you might have a fish that won't eat certain corals, but might be willing to snack on others.

I would recommend sargassums and bluetrhroats since they are more available, and tend not to be overly expensive.
