2) Follow instructions on the bag for how much salt per gallon of water at the specific gravity of your choice.
3) You can use carbon in your Emperor for starters, but sooner or later, you'd do well to employ a sump/fuge/skimmer etc approach for a successful reef setup.
4) I personally do not use those products, so I don't know. You can provide good water quality by using Reverse Osmosis/DeIonized water, and keeping parameters such as No3, PO4 etc in check.
and last but not least for a little unsolicited advice, with the best of intentions; do a lot of research before you commit to this setup.
how do I setup a sump? just get a 30 gallon and put it on the bottom? and then have a pump, pump the water from the tank into the sump. and then a pump, pumping the water back into the tank from the sump?
