reeflo dart question

I got a couple reeflo darts and was wondering do the reeflo darts have suction to pull water up or does it have to be below the water level like for instance have pvc from the inlet connected to the dart and have it be sitting above the sump and do a 90 deg into the resivour of the sump but it'll be above the sump so it has to pull water up into the inlet or can i do the pump same level as the bottom of the sump and then run a pipe up into the resivour?? Can I do this with a reeflo dart?? i've seen people do tests in a bathtub and it goes over like so but do you have to prime the tube before turning the pump on??? how does this work??

I am fairly certain they are not "self-priming" pumps. they will not suck water up at all, and if you run them dry = toast... you should be able to find out the info on their site - worst case, give them a call. Customer service is above and far beyond the norm.

They can not self prime, but if they are primed they can be placed a short distance above the water level. But if they stop and loose prime you are out of luck without repriming them.
