Refractometer

I bought mine from Dr. Fosters and Smith when they were running the special buy for Reef Central. Both Kwajrocks and 8Ball told me that the numbers/scale on mine appear larger than those on theirs. I don't know where they got theirs. You don't have to worry about it now, but it's definitely a plus for those of us whose eye sight is beginning to get weak with age.

You should get a proper calibration solution for it and check its calibration initially and periodically thereafter, although it does not drift like a pH meter even when it's old.

The scale size bothers me on mine as I'm sure many also. If I could find one with a smaller range than the standard 1.000-1.070 I'd likely get that unless it just seems very cheaply made. I may have the same one as Tomoko. It's blue and doesn't really seem to have a brand name, and I got it from Drs. F&S for 40 or 50 bucks. Can't remember. I'm still considering a Pinpoint Salinity monitor, but haven't made the purchase yet.

I've been very happy with mine.. I think it came from PremiumAquatics.com.. My Favorite online vender BTW.. They have changed mine a little though. Mine is the RHS-10ATC. It seems they have since "improved it" and now its the Blue RHS-10ATC.

Like Tomoko said though her Scale/Numbers are larger and a little easier to read then mine. I dont know if the new blue model has the same size text as mine. I know the Milwaukee has the Exact same size text/scale as mine does though. Its not hard to read but IMO the larger the better.HTH

I have the blue on I got it from Drs F&S back in Feb. when it was on sale for $41 reg. price is 45. I agree that the scale is difficult to read. I think the $109 one they have is supposed to be much better, but I haven't seen one.
