Ok, so I know I am at the bottom end of the large tank community with a 180 but I think this is the best place to ask this question, I prefer knowing from reefers that own big tanks.
I am in the middle of getting all my equipment together to upgrade my 75 gal to a 180 display and then make my current 75 into my sump.
So my question is this, I want to have a refugium separate from the actual sump, this way I can add more rock to the sump and less to the display, I don't want to end up with a tank full of rock.
Do you think a normal size 10 gal aquarium set up as a refugium is good enough for the system I am trying to set up?.
I think the display will probably have about 140 gal to 150 gal of tops of actual water after the sand and the rock, and the sump maybe another 35 gal"¦..so in total I may be looking at 180-190 gal of total water volume"¦..so would a 10 gal refugium full of microalgae do the job or not?
By the way, I terms of pods eating fish, the only one I really want to get is the dragonet the rest of the fish I have (or plan to have) will eat regular frozen food.
Thanks again for the help, any advice will be appreciated.
