Refuge, water scum... power head?

My new refuge is a little over 4 weeks old now and the Caulerpa and Chaeto is starting to grow nice. There is however quite a bit of crap and scum on the surface of the water. I have thought about putting a small power head in there to brake the water surface up a bit.? Or is this ok for the surface to be a little stagnant looking?

I would suggest a powerhead in any case to get the chaeto to gentle tumble which I have found they generally like which results in growth.

I would also put a small PH in there. I have the output of my TLF reactor pointed ti break up the surface of my fuge. Without it it builds a film on it.

I have a little power head now in there which is braking the water surface up a treat. This does feel like the right thing to do but I do wonder if this is not changing the dynamic of the refuge as a filter?

I thought some of the idea was that the particles had a chance to drop into the bottom of the refuge with the slow flow over the top?

Any more thoughts on this would be very much appreciated.

My fuge has 1 baffle that goes over into the return section, so all the scum gets mixed in and sent back around through the tank into the skimmer. I do have a problem with detritus sitting in the bottom of my fuge though

Even with the power head you added I'm sure the fuge is still the lowest flow area of your tank. So it should still have that effect. It shouldn't be to strong, just enough to break the surface and move things around a bit.
