Refugium cheap light

Not sure how much those are, but I got mine from Home Depot or Lowes, (I forget which place). I hae to prune my macro every 7-10 days!

Forgot this part. :)

I use 2-6500K Spiral Compact Florescent Bulbs

I can post some pics if you need them.

I would definitely like to see what you have. Sounds like you have those that look like a light bulb? what wattage?

Piuctures would be great !

If you go poke around on the melevsreef site, he has a bulb he recommends like this...a spiral PC inside a sealed floodlight reflector...sounds similar to this one. Now, my HD has a different bulb that looks exactly the same, but it doesn't state the color temperature on it, so I'm afraid to get it.

rrome, I got the idea from Meleves site. I have 2 and they work great! My reflector is niot sealed, no need to be really. Here are a few pics:

You can see the macro is crazy! I prune it about every 10 days!

I bought a $7 clip-on 150 watt MH shop light from Lowes and it's working great. The mangrove saplings and macro are doing very well. It does create a little heat but I keep it on an alternate cycle from my main lighting.

Most excellent! Thank you all. I like Micki's solution, as this will be for a separate tank devoted to this (little/no rom for sump)

What wattage are those? looks like 18?

Grace's dad, I like you idea for my small refugim, certainly reasonably priced, I'll try it if the Lights of America does not work out.

Thanks all!

rrome, sorry I forgot to add that. They are 30W each. I don't remember if we got them at HomeDepot or Lowes, one or the other for sure.

Yes, they do the job! :) I leave them on 24/7. I have a mixture of macro with some that could go sexual so 24/7 works for me. :)
