Hello All,
jackinthebox, would truly appreciate any guidance. on my refugium. I just started. placing soft corals in my tank, and this is my first experience with corals. I have good numbers for 6 months on tank conditions. I have been frustrated with information on managing the Chaeto. How often should I be harvesting the Chaeto? I've been watching my phosphate levels to see spikes, thinking a rise in Po4 would indicate the Chaeto is no longer as effective absorbing the phosphate. When do you harvest some of the chaeto?

Weekly. When it grows there is a lot.
Growing macroalgae requires N and P and a bit of iron.

If you can grow it, good for you. Since it was introduced to the hobby, I’ve never been able to keep it in any of my tanks/fuges. As a result, I stick to Caulerpa.

I have caulerpa, ulva and chaeto growing. Does bubble algae count. I have that too.
If N and P are high it grows fast and slow if they are low. It disintegrates into little pieces if they get too low.
I do add iron weekly for them.
