refugium substrate

I have around 200#'s of sand going into my tank. Ill be saetting up my refugium soon also. I have about 50#'s of CC. Can I use the CC in the refugium? or should I go buy more sand?

I wouldnt use crushed coral as it will definitly cause problems with nitrates. I would use sand, a few inches thick.

OK. I had thought I may be able to because everyone says CC causes bad nitrates cuz of traped deitrus. I figured since no fish in my refugium, that i may be able to use it.

So what can I do with all the CC now then??

Use it for a fish only tank or plant plants in it. Maybe make litle necklaces out of shells and sel them on Ebay. I really have no idea, just having fun with the idea.
