refugium

Anyone ever use a refugium?
I use to keep frags, macro algae growing in my sump on a reverse light cycle when I had my home made over sided stands with big sumps underneath.

My current sump does not allow for this so today I picked up a HOB refugium with a small pump on it. Since the tank lights are supported over the tank, I was thinking it could get enough light from there for macro algae.

Anyone ever buy pods online?

I got a diversity pack from garf.org and was pretty happy with it. I came with everything you need to start a nice fug. Leroy there is good to deal with he will customize a pack for the size you need

I'm glad it worked out for you DJ, but if you do a search for GARF in the "Vendor Experiences" forum you'll find a lot of bad reviews. A lot.

Yea Bert's has it but thought Lloyd might want to try a closer LFS first.
Then again since he's going reef might be a good excuse to come down this way and check things out ;).
I've never gotten any but I've heard good things about them too.
Jim did give me a bottle of "bad" but still good arcti-pods once that my fish and corals love.

I've tried the arcti-pods and agree it's good stuff. I'm going to try the mysis-feast next. And tigger-pods to boost pod population at some point.

I was just looking at the different type of pods on Live Aquaria.

I am stopping by to pick up some supplies from Phil this evening i will see if he has them.
I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a PB and Hippo Tang so i need to setup a QT - cause you know when you buy one they come with free ICH attached.

We did a group buy once. Pods were the big thing in the shipment. I think there were 10 or so bags of them. They were really nice. The place was floridapets.com if I remember correctly. Don't know if they are still a viable choice or not but I know my fish were happy campers with those pods.

I think once you do a treatment for something you have a good chance of wiping out the bio-diversity. This is what happened to me.
