Will a 20gal refugium work on a 110gal tank ???

I have a 90gal tank with 20gal sump, half of the sump is the refuge. Any refuge is better than no refuge. Mine seems to be working well, my nitrates are in the 5ppm range.

Is that the total volume of the sump and fuge or the fuge itself? I agree, any is better than none.
