Regrowing a tail?

I'm inheriting a sorry looking foxface that had it's tail nipped to almost nothing. Will it regrow any of it?

I'll take a picture when I put him in the quarantine tank.

it may..I have a cardinal that had it's tail completely eaten off to the body,when it was small, and it re-grew..

If the rays are still intact, the fin can fully regrow.

If there's been significant damage to the rays, the fin may not regrow to its original shape or size. Any new fin growth may be a different colour than the original, as well.

If there are no rays...well, there won't be a fin.
