Reinforcing a stand

I recently bought a used Solana tank that came with the stand but the stand is a little rickety. Id like to keep the stand but want to make it stronger. The stand is wobbly when I move it around which would cause disaster with water in it.

I was thinking of placing some 2x4's underneath the stand but I'm not sure if that will fix it.

Any suggestions?

If you place the 2x4 right and use none rust screws you will be fine.

screw a piece of 3/4" plywood on the back of the stand.

no screws that need to be tighten down? never dealt with that stand. hard to say on where to put them to be honest.

ply wood might be a good idea if u dont mine that and one on a side if its up against a wall

yes, exactly like he did it will give you a lot of structural integrity with the use of minimal space. You should also consider using subfloor glue to stick the plywood to the back. This way you can avoid all the screws and get the same integrity.

You can also do the same thing on the sides, and you not only keep the stand from shifting front to back, but you will also add about 500lb shear strength to that stand.

Yup.use a hole saw to make a place to feed your wires thru.
The subfloor glue is a better Idea the the screws.

liquid nails subfloor and deck adhesive
paint the wood to seal it, apply adhesive ,stick it on ,clamp it down.If you don't have clamps use some small screws to tighten it up to the back.

Just wanted to jump in and say this is an extremely common problem with Solana Stands. Those things are absolute junk. IIRC they were re-branded end-tables from a major retailer (like target or walmart) and were only rated for a couple dozen lbs of weight on top.
