Removing frags from plugs

Ive had a few frags from the LFS for a while now and they are doing great! I want to remove them from the plugs now and glue them in place so my question is do I just cut between the plug and the frag where the glue is? what is the best tool to use?

The best tool is your hands :D

You can break the super glue with your hands very easily. Just grab the frag plug and the base of the coral and snap it off.

I just took pliers and pried the rock off the frag, it wasn't actually that well attached either haha. I would ONLY do this for frags that are on a piece of rock glued to the plug, not ones where it's just the coral with nothing else.

I've been able to get all of mine off the frag plugs with just my hands, though I have also heard of others using a flat screwdriver to pry them off if they're really stuck on tight. Another option is to just bust off the plug, leaving the frag attached to the disc itself. Pliers work great for that.

Its fine and often recommended to break off frags when there is no rock. It reduces the risk for hitchhikers. It is best to use a side cutter or coral fragging tool to do this for the clean break with little damage to the flesh of the coral.
