Removing mushroom from rock

I have a green hairy mushroom that is getting quite large. It split once and the 2nd part is in a good spot but the orginial part is starting to get larger. I would like to remove it from the rock and then frag it, for the donor program :). So how do I get this guy off the rock without killing it? The fragging part is easy then. Thanks

Here is a pic

I'm wondering too. I tried removing one of mine (look exactly like yours), and ended up just smushing, smashing, and slicing it to pieces trying to get it off the rock. Somewhere I read to try to point a powerhead directly at it, and it will remove itself. I haven't tried that yet (just got the powerhead to stay where I want it!)

Use like a flathead screwdriver or a chisel and chip out a little bit of the rock under where the shroom is attached.

I have heard of the powerhead trick for anemones, I tried it once and mine didn't move. The rock is not removeable from the tank either. Can't be easy and all that. And the shrooms certainly don't play nice either and shrivel up when they get touched.

If you're doing it in-tank, might want to do it in more of a "digging" motion than actually chipping, like with a hammer. :eek2:

lol yeah. Another option it to frag it in the tank and leave the bottom half to regrow. Should give me 2 or 3 frags off the shroom.
