Removing Sand

What is the best way to SAFELY remove a not deep enough sand bed? I have about 300lbs of mostly sugar-sized but some seafloor and I think its causing more issues than its worth and I believe it's time has run short.

I don't think I'm qualified to tell you the best way but if you like the look of a fine grain sand bed... here's the plan I'm personally using going forward.

-Remove & replace in sections spread out over a period of time. I plan to do this in the process of water changes as needed. I just recently switched from Seafloor to fine sand and am planning to start gradual replacement cycles end of summer/beginning of fall this year.

You can siphon it out with a hose during a water change. You won't get it all at one time..like Mel said, it would be over a course of a few water changes. But it works.

Taking it all out at once can throw your system out of whack anyways. If you plan to replace with new sand, doing it in phases can help "seed" the new stuff in the process.
