Has anyone ever removed the center support (front or back) in a Sedona aquarium stand? Here is a picture from the front of the stand.

well ive seen and heard about people removing the back center support and just putting it back in place after they get the sump in. If that is something that I can do without it affecting much, it would be a lot easier than completely taking the top of the stand apart and sliding the sump down inside the stand...

the other thing is that its been on oceanic stands and not a Marineland Sedona.

I have look into doing the same thing with a similar stand. Have not had the time. Things I will do prior.

Have a step by step plan on what I am going to do. I will have this written down so I don't forget any thing.

Have everything you need close by.

I would drain as much water as possible. Maybe do this with a water change.
Remove any live rock.
Make the tank as light as possible.
Use a 2x4 for support off center so you can get your sump in.
These are some of the things I would do.

I'd like to put it back after i am done, and have even thought of reinforcing the back with 2 x 4s after removing it. At this point, I would probably rather remove the back one, that way it doesnt mess with the view from the front too much. pluss there are no doors on the back so there is more support from the back piece than there would be in the front, i will take a picture and see if you all still think the same thing.

is it an actual support? i have a stand with a 1" x 6" piece in the middle. after further review, i found that it was simply a piece of wood to let the doors close to. it was actually shot in with brad style nails. i just twisted it out, put in my sump/fuge, and shot it back in. the main support is the perimeter woodwork. take another look at it.

Well that was what i was thinking. I am more interested in taking the back peice out, but its the same as the front only the holes are just a little but smaller. it does seem to look like it is two pieces, but it may just be the outer facing of the stand put together there and it may be one giant piece. My thought all in all was that if I cut it out with a very thing blade and put the sump in, and then put the center piece back in, I shouldnt have any problems.

Also, as of right now, I am still starting the tank, so there isnt anything in it at all, completely empty.

One other thing. As of right now, it would be much much easier just to take the top off since everything is empty, but i am more worried about taking the sump out with the tank full of water if i were to ever have to change anything.
