well i got a piece of xenia back in the summer and it has been speading like crazy (on every rock close enough) well after it spread on to this one little rock i got the bright idea to throw a piece in my 10 gallon tank wich has now started to over run the tank (well not really but im getting there :p) ive got this one rock in my 10 that has like 3 differant types of zoos and now half the rock is coverd in xenia aswell  .... how do i remove the xenia without destroying it??? any suggestions?

cut the main peices off with scissors (as close to the rock as possible) and scrub whats left off with a toothbrush (or it will just grow back). rinse the rock off with water change water when your done.

... then sell the frags

Yank the weed off the rock to save the zoos, if you want to save the xenia you can atttach it to another rock with rubber ban or glue. I just pull them of with tweezers.

so let me make sure i got this right..... i can cut it, yank it, tweeze it and this wont harm it??? i would like to frag it if its relitivley easy

as far as sticking it onto a rock wich method is best glue or rubberband??? and what kind??

Rubberband. Takes 3-4 days to attach.

alright thanks for all the replies...looks like ill be attempting to frag some xenia soon

I've used a flathead screwdriver to get under it, removing the top layer of rock. Glue them to a new rock, and voila, you have frags. Yet, they still grow back on the original rock...

I've learned in my nano just to put a rock on top of the colony, or mostly on it, but kinda next to it, and it'll move up the new rock, then no cutting or waiting for it to attach. it'll move itself!
