Initially I was going to build my own stand but I picked up a Marineland Monterey stand and canopy off of Craigslist for a good price. (Luckily I had only gotten as far as cutting so I will use the wood to make some shelves.)
The stand is in great shape but has a number of areas where the paint was chipped / scraped off so I want to repaint it.
In looking on Marineland's site it looks like they put a black lacquer finish on the stand.
I have an LPLV gun I can use to spray the paint on but I am looking for some advice in terms of the paint type I should use.
Not sure if I should just gently rough up the surface and put another coat of black lacquer on it, put a couple coats of enamel on it or go with a oil based exterior paint.
It sounds like lacquer would be the quickest method but it sounds like it wont be as durable as enamel?
Does anyone have any experience / advice they could lend me.
