I have had a Verten In-100 skimmer for several years. The original Vertex pump started rusting on me and was replaced under warranty. A few weeks ago the replacement pump went out on me (it was also rusting) and I was unable to find the replacement Vertex IN-80/IN-100 Replacement Skimmer Pump Motor so I looked around online and found a few recommendations and ultimately want with the Sicce PSK-600 Skimmer Pump w/ Needle Wheel. I found it online for a good price and the retailer also offered a stand for it. I ordered both for $114 shipped.

When I got the pump, I quickly realized it was not going to be a drop in replacement. I ended up making it work and will document what I did to help any other that may find themselves in the same situation.

1. Venturi "“ The pump did not come with a venture and the vertex one did not connect directly to the PSK-600. I ended up connecting the two with a piece of 32mm ID X 38mm OD clear silicone tube that I had on hand. I cut a hole for the venture, cut slots to allow it to be fully inserted on the pump intake and secured with a zip tie.

2. Height/Stand "“ The PSKSTAND stand/Pump combo resulted in the pump outlet being higher than the skimmer intake. To accommodate, I cut off the tips of the rubber feet on the stand.

3. Connection to Skimmer "“ To attach the pump to the skimmer I modified a ¾" PVC Female Pipe Adapter. I turned the external diameter of the slip end of the adapter to 1.265". This results in an adapter that can be threaded onto the pump and slid directly into the skimmer intake.

I don't have much run time with the new setup but so far it seems to be working well and is quiet.
