resealing glass aquariums, any place do this service, or is it only a DIY job

i could try to do it myself as i looked up instructions online, but i'm not so good at such things and the task seems daunting to me.

i have a 16 gallon bow front that sprung a leak and i assume its in the silicone seal some where as there are no cracks in the glass and the silicone looks rather shabby and haphazardly done. does any one reseal aquariums locally for a fee (or is any one here on the forum willing to do the job for me in exchange for some frags, live rock, or cash, if so i can swing the aqaurium by on monday in the morning or afternoon and then pick it up a week later)

my guess is i'll just have to buckle down and try fixing it myself and hope i don't goof up, i am sure that is what every one else does in this hobby.

Most people do it them selves, I resealed a 10 gallon tank i am using as my sump, that was leaking like a waterfall. Where is the leak coming from, bottom, corners, sides???

Depending on where it is at I may be able to do it for you if you have the silicone and how bad the leak is.

i am doing more tests on the tank to determine just where the leak is.
a few months ago i came home to find 1/3 the water gone from the tank, i moved every one into a 12 gallon. i did not care at the time to investigate further but now i want to set up that tank! i know it was not the equipments fault for the water loss as its the same equpiment is on the 12 gallon and its been a few months and i have not had any problems.

plus like i said, the silicone jog looks like crap and just feel it would be best to redo it.

I don't know if I would trust a resealed tank. I've seen plenty of thread where the reseal pops out a few months latter.

Edit, but it's a small tank, so the pressures won't be that bad, so it may be worth a try.

i filled the tank at 1pm, and its still full.....so am i in the clear? can i set it up? or should i wait longer?

why would so much water have been gone so fast if it was not a leak, the day it happened i woke up to find 1/3 the water gone....
the same HOB filters are currently being used on the 12 gallon and it has never happend to this tank.

strange

Was it the next day after you filled it or a couple. I loose about 1 1/2 gallon a day in my 50. Evap takes alot of water away.

So it could of been just evap.

I seriously doubt that the tank would evaporate 1/3 of it's content in one day. According to Lilleah, her tank lost 1/3 of it's content of 5 gallons per day. My 120 doesn't lose 5 gallon of water per day during the hot summer. At the same time, if your tank loses 5 gallon, I am surprise that you can't find some water on the floor.

My conspiracy theory is that your fish was drink your water. They must have been very thirsty that day. ;-)

Welll thats why i brought up evap, she didnt say anything about water on the floor.

I know from my experience I thought I filled a tank up the day before, but it was actually 2 days. So the evap wasnt as a shock when I remebered it was 2 days.
