retrofit octopus recirc skimmer with Eheim

Can this be done? The Octopus pump that came with my DNW-150 is excessively noisey. I've been having it for about 7-8 months and was told that it would quite down once broken in, but the noise level has not changed. Wondering if anyone has changed the Octo pump out for an Eheim. Which size and pieces/parts should I get to make this happen?

to big of a pump with to much air for that small of a body and neck

So Outy, if I follow this thread, you think I can quite the pump down some??

A meshmod isn't going to quiet it down. If you throw a bigger pump on there it will likely overflow into the skimmate cup. For an octo 2000, i'm guessing thats the pump, you could go with a different pump like a genx2400, sedra2500 and just make a large venturi to slow down the h2o gph, and pull more air. I think an eheim would work......if you set it up right. To me, sounds like you got a lemon of a pump. I'd call where you got it from and try to get an exchange.

i did the GG mod to one of my 2 pumps before the mesh arrives and the one with GG is quiet the stock one is still noisey.

for what its worth if its a new pump once it breaks in it will get better on its own
