Return?

Ok I drilled my hole for a 700gph for my 75 gallon. Now I was wondering should I have one or two returns? I am guessing 3/4" return from my sump.

up to you and how you want to control your flow.

to be clear you would have one return pump, then split the return line with either a T or Y fitting in to two separate pipes.

my current tank was pre-drilled with 4 holes. so i rigged mine to use 3 holes as drains and 1 hole as the return. although i could have just as easily went 2 and 2.

depends on how much pressure you're expecting from your returns i suppose.

really, your return pump should be matched to what your drain can handle. i don't use my returns for providing flow in my tank, that's what powerheads are for, mine are strictly there to return water to the tank from the sump, usually under relatively low pressure.

you can always put a valve on the pump to throttle it back a little, but i usually like to go with a somewhat smaller return than my drains are rated for.
