reverse cycle light for nems

I would like to put my MH's on a small reverse cycle, but I dont want to disturb the tank's inhabitants' diurnal cycles if that would hurt them more than it would help the nems.

My nems are recovering from a tank crash, and I would like to get them a few hours of MH (2x150 15k) a day in addition to what they get during the daytime (about 5 15 minute cycles during the day). They also get 8 hours of 4x54 T5 (2 420 and 2 460).

The reason I would like to do it at night is because it gets pretty warm during the day, and they're in my office...if I run the halides for two hours straight, it will increase the tank temp--and my office temp! Our a/c can't take Alabama summer without the tank, I would like to not have my office temp break 76 during the day! I figure at night the a/c is doing a better job, and that heat will be easily dissapated from both the tank and my office.

thoughts?

Thanks,

tim

I wouldn't recommend having them turn on in the middle of the night (I've seen how freaked out my fish get when I flip on a room light while they were sleeping...the halides would just straight up make them mad)

What if you set them up to come on for a few hours after everyone's left the office for the day, but before your inhabitants are asleep?

your four t5's are all the lights a rbta in a 44g needs but you should replace three of them for a higher par lux/lumen more daylight K.
focus on good h20 and supplemental feedings.

I run all my tanks lighting during the evening hour and my 150 runs from midnight until 9 am. Especially helps during the summer months.

I may go with an extra dose of late-day halides...here's a really dumb question:

how much sleep do they get in the wild? what would be an optimum amount of sleep?

I can bring the lights on as late as 9 am, and then give them some MH during the day, with an additional 2 hours or so between 7 and 9, and then turn out the T5's 30 minutes later.
