Reviving ARS

Anyone up for reviving ARS? I still have the appalachianreefsociety.org domain and active on my server. I just need some help with the content and some images.

Post your ideas here.

Thanks!

I'll help out!! If there is anything I can do just let me know.....

I have some experience doing graphic design, and page layouts.

Here's what I have so far:

I really like the layout, I just don't know if a Clown Trigger screams "Reef Club"; but other than that, it looks great!!

My suggestions would be:
-Sixline Wrasse
-Hermit Crab
-Giant Clam

Not necessarily in any particular order.

that's just my 2 cents

How about rotating the three pics? :) it will keep fading in a new fish every 5 seconds.

Ok, mission statement. Can we have some kind of mission statement that I can add to the site? Something general would do and we can just improve it as we go along.

As self appointed ARS Caesar, I say

Reggie is now formally in charge of the next meetup and all club activities for the next six months, or until removed ;)

While I'm out I wish you guys the best of luck in getting an active club going again. I believe my enjoyment would have been much greater if we had an active club. I meet a lot of people while breaking down my system, I'm mow convinced there are enough people around. Just not sure if the majority want to participate or not.

Anyhow, good luck!

Spoken like a gentleman and a scholar. I agree with Mike, you all should give it another go. Just my 2 cents, but I feel Reggie would be an excellent president as he has helped me out in so many ways (being a noob to coral). Also for all the effort he has already displayed in starting the club. Good luck!

Let's not worry about officers for the moment. Let's try to focus first on gathering aquarists in the area first. When we reach a good number, we can then go through an election process. :)

In any case, let's try to build the group by planning a meet up and inviting local, experienced folks to talk about the hobby. I suggest we invite Phil and Fuji to talk for 15-30 minutes each about the hobby (e.g. Starting the hobby, pitfalls, and how their shops can help). We can have 1 or 2 more folks to talk about specific topics. Let's not do a frag swap in the first meet up -- more of a meet and greet so we all get to know everyone interested in the hobby.

Back to the mission statement. How about this:

The Appalachian Reef Society (ARS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the exchange of information and ideas among saltwater aquarists of all experience levels. We believe in the conservation of coral reefs and encourage responsible husbandry, breeding and propagation among members. Through the exchange of knowledge and experiences, we help each other become better, more responsible, and successful enthusiasts. Our members range from West Virginia, Southern Ohio, and Eastern Kentucky.
