I went to Exotic Aquatics in Highland Indiana over the weekend to see how there show tank was doing and to check out there current stock. Last time I was there I did see a decline in their corals health for unknown reasons. I was told by Kurt (owner) that his coral tank had been sabotaged. While pulling out dead corals and routine maintenance he found a number of pennies throughout his display tank. The copper pennies were completely oxidized almost to the point of being unrecognizable. Kurt has been so frustrated the past few months as he watched his prized corals and future profits/sales die off one by one.
Not only did he find pennies in his display tank but also in all his upper reef tanks which are unreachable to young children. He stated this is defiantly sabotage and he is willing to give a reward to anyone with information of who has been placing pennies in his coral tanks.
This is a very childish and sad thing for anyone to do. These are live sea creatures and a lively hood for this store owner and friend.
If anyone has any information about the pennies being placed in their coral tanks please call 219-972-3650.
