Ric rookie question...

When you look at the pic I posted, you can see my new green ric. The rock that it is on also has an orange ric in the upper left hand corner. I had originally brought the rock with the original orange ric back to my LFS a couple of weeks ago because it was not looking too happy after 6 months in my tank. I went back to the LFS today, and there's my ric in one of their frag baskets...looking pretty happy. I decided I wanted it back, but the green ric was starting to attatch to the rock. The LFS guy said "let's just super glue the green ric to the rock with your orange ric". I figured sure, why not. Now for the questions: As you can see in the pic, the super glue didn't hold very well, and the green ric started sliding off the rock. I took the rock out of the tank, put some more super glue on the little frag the green ric was still attatched to, and glued it back to the proper spot on the rock. I also used a small rubber band to hold the little piece of rubble snug to the rock in case the super glue failed again. Do you think I did this correctly? Will the 2 rics end up stinging each other when they get big enough to touch? They are a couple of inches apart right now. After browsing the pics on this forum, it looks like there are a lot of rocks with assorted rics on them, so I figured it would be OK. So...what do you think?

Nice yuma. I have one like that. The thing with yumas compared with FL ricordias is that the yuma ricordia is more tempermental. They don't like strong light or flow and even when in an ideal location they tend to sometimes wonder. But keep good water conditions and they should be fine. Yes, they can touch with no problems. I am thinking that yumas seem to prefer touching.

Flricordia: I figured I would upload a pic of the result of my little glue experiment. Seems to have come out pretty good for my first attempt. Please excuse my ignorance, but is a Yuma a specific type of Ricordia? Also...do you think the orange one is the same type as the green one? Thanks again for the info...Perry

Yumas like you have are ricordia with the bumpy mouth (thing in the center).. florida rics lack the bumpy mouth.

nice shrooms!

I asked the same thing when I got my first rics. Yumas are from the indo pacific and fl rics from carribean. Bulbs on FL rics are close to the same size all over, yumas have differetn sizes, plus what chrisstie said, bubbles extend onto mouth on yumas.
