Well one of my Resun power heads claimed it's first victim tonight and wouldn't you know it was the beloved Pipe Fish. I saw him stuck to the outside of the case and he was not strong enough to swim off it. I pulled him off and he gasped a couple times and was moving his mouth for about 10 minutes and then gave up.

It's a sad sad night in the house tonight.<a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZS%2526i%253D36%252F36%255F1%255F44%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_1_44.gif"

Dang I loved that fish, but you know that makes sense and It could have happened to anybody with strong circulation.

That blows.
Actually that sucks................sorry had to do it.

That sucks, wish we would not lose livestock to our technoligy like that. I have had a sailfin tang get suck up into a powerhead cause it provided shade and protechtion so he hung out under it all the time. It recovered, but I have put a prefiltrt to cover the intake. Sometimes the stuff that somes with a powerhead is not good enought to cover that intake, and the prefilters out there work great and protect the livestock.

Edit, bah doing posts from a blackberry kinda sucks so I can't correct the mistypes cause this thing has no arrow keys

That's the bad thing about these powerheads. The whole case around the propeller has the slots in it. There is no way of putting a prefilter cover on it unless I built a cage to put the whole powerhead in, and that would not look to good.

Hummmm. Maybe I'll give it some thought and come up with something that won't look so bad.

You'll cut down on the flow though by closing off those slots. I cut out every other slot on my tunzes to help the flow. A pipefish would be great in my 10 but not my 600 for that reason. I think it's just one of those fish you won't be able to keep in there. Just put one on the 90 next time maybe.
