ro/di question

ro/di

ro/di

It does not have more tds per say, just a higher concentrated volume because there is less "waste" water than water coming into the unit, as the rest of the water becomes RO/DI water. I think i got that right.

correct me if I am wrong.

I was just thinking the membrane holds the tds's, so without back flushing the filters was just wondering how the waste water wasnt atleast somewhat better than the tap.

Yes - the TDS in the "waste water" will be higher than the TDS in the feed water. The RO membrane pull nearly pure water out of the feedwater, leaving nearly the same amount of dissolved solids in a lower volume of liquid. The RO membrane doesn't trap and hold the TDS like the sediment filter.

The TDS of your waste water will be about 20% higher than the feed water, assuming you have a 4:1 waste to permeate ratio.

I would not use it for Koi. Norm has it right..use it to water flowers and plants, even wash dishes with it...but your pond is still an ecosystem and you'll be putting higher amounts of copper, Phosphate, ect....

I use a 2x75 system good for 150gpd and my waste is reduced by 50%..so costs less overall. I have a need for that mush water though...
