RO/DI TDS Test

Just curious of what your before and afte TDS tests are on your water. I have a 094 on my tap water and 001 on my RO/DI filtered water.

Without having it in front of me (at work right now), I seem to remember that my tap water runs 100-120. The output of my DI is anywhere from 0 to 20, depending on if I feel like changing the resins.

Anywhere from 70 to 170 tap and 0 ro/di. If you have anything above 0 after ro/di, you need a resin change. I have more than tripled the life of my DI resin by taking the DI chamber loose from the unit, and mounting it in an upright position on the wall beside the unit. The Di units will channel through the top if they are laying down like they come mounted.

My tap runs 650 or so with my DI output reading 0.

About the same for me. Depending on the time of year, about 600-700 from the tap, always 0 from the RO/DI.

okay dugg, are you referring to the "inline" style DI cartridges? I have an RO/DI that has 2 different DI stages, one in a normal cartridge along with the Carbon Block and Sediment Filters, but then on top of the membrane casing is another inline DI cart. laying sideways. Should I mount this upright?

I think all the comercial units I have seen mount the DI upright. I am sure i need to change all the filters. Especially since it was in storage for a few years. I just hooked it up day before yesterday while doing odd jobs in the fish room.

Depending if it is a good day or not, it's usually 450-550 in Stillwater. My RO unit needs flushed. I don't even use it anymore at the moment. It has about a 15% rejection rate at the moment. But hey, what can you say if you got it used for free. I'm still happy to have it.

My reading on the tap water fluctuates quite a bit. Zero post-filter though. Seems most have the same results. I know you can buy the DI resin and save your cylinders. You save a little $ that way.

Yes Adam, the small DI cartidge on top that is mounted laying down should be removed and mounted upright. When they are laying down, the resin settles and shrinks over time, and allows the water to channel over the top of the resin instead of being forced through it.

Are you sure that small horizontal stage is DI resin? I ask because I don't recall seeing any vendor, even considering all the odd ebay configurations, use both a vertical and horizontal DI stage.
