if you are looking for making your own salt water, get a ro/di unit. you can get them on ebay fairly reasonable.

I've got a 5 stage RO/DI I was planning to get rid of. I'd let it go for $80. I paid about $150 for it a few years ago on e-bay. I don't need it anymore because I've got well water with a bio-lite and RO that seems to do REALLY well with my tank.

I just ordered a Kent Deluxe Maxxima 60 Hi-S 60 gpd, hopefully my psi is above 60. New house so new code, hopefully that means good water pressure because I do not want to buy an RO pump.

Ebay does have a bunch; used which may require new filters at $30+ a piece or new but I didn't know the make or how reputable they are. There are a lot of them on sale at F&S.
