hi i got some tonga rock i bought over the net, i left it out to dry but boy it stinks fishy smell sour maybe. what the best way to clean and get the smell out, boil them, are i was thinking of putting it in a media back in fresh water in back of the toilet for a while what do yall think. i will but it in my tank to reseed once i know they are ok to use again. thanks

Not sure how long it's been dry but I would putbit in a rubbermaid tub with a pump to start curing it. Change the water saltwater often at first and then reduce the frequency if changing. Did u dry it out because of aphasia or something. Usually u just cure it went u get it to see what cool stuff survives.
Hope that helps

place in a bucket with saltwater, in the dark, change the water after a week or so, keep until it smells fresh.

its just small pieces thought i would but in fuge later when its all ready, drying to get all the stuff clean . and make sure its not going to but anything in the tank also so it will be a month are so before i can set up new tanks

A 5g bucket with lid from Home Depot and a powerhead will work well. Toss in a small bit of LR from your tank to get it started if you need to. I've kept rock live for months at a time doing this.

If the rock is going in your fuge, there is no need to dry it out to kill any hitchhikers. It doesnt really matter if you get some black clawed nasty in your fuge IMO. Many people put scary critters in the fuge on purpose because its a way to keep them without endangering the inhabitants of your DT. If you are dead set on cleaning the rock though, Boiling it will kill everything on it. Then scrub the crap out of it. Make sure there is nothing left on the rock after boiling it, because anything left will be dead and decaying.
